This
has been a busy summer for the Health Project, and we enjoyed a
number of public events with our clients and staff.
We
participated in the Sidewalk Bazaar and the
Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Gloucester Rotary, and held our
annual client/family picnic.
But one of my happiest moments came when I met a
former client out in the community going about his business, looking
well and sounding cheerful. It's a great feeling to see someone back
on their feet, living the life they wanted. It means that we've done
our job.
The best way to celebrate this kind of success is
to join us for dinner at Jalapenos Restaurant on
Wednesday, November 10. Jalapenos will donate 10%
of its food bills that night to the Health Project. If you haven't
been to Jalapenos, this is a great opportunity to find out why it's
so popular. Join us on Wednesday, November 10.
Best regards,
Susan Oleksiw
Executive Director
| Choosing
Foods to Help You Sleep |
Far
too many of us arrive at work ready for a nap. We are,
as a nation, sleep deprived, and we know this is not
good. Sleep deprivation leads to a decline in the efficiency
of our immune systems and makes us vulnerable to disease.
Our bodies heal better if we have adequate sleep, which
for the average adult is 7 to 8 hours a night.
Sometimes
we go to bed ready to sleep, but can't fall asleep. There
are lots of reasons for this, and we can lie
awake all night trying to figure it out. We're worried
about work. We're overtired or excited about a coming vacation.
Perhaps it's something we ate. Whatever the reason, we
can do something about it.

As
we enter the last stretch of the campaign, we still need
to raise $100,000 to avoid having to cut critical programs
that provide needed services to 22,000 North Shore residents. Thanks to a very generous group of donors
who stepped forward with a second donation to this year's
campaign, we a re able to match every donation made during
March. So...
If
you give $25, the NSUW gets $50.
If you give $100, the NSUW gets $200.
Make your donation count twice!
