North Shore Health Project is in the running for a $250,000
grant from the Pepsi Foundation. Many organizations are competing
for this grant, and the winners will be determined by online
voting through the end of February. Anyone can vote, and you
can cast a new vote daily. The Health Project needs community
support to get this grant, and we are asking our friends to help.
All you need to do is to go to http://www.refresheverything.com/healthproject and
vote. The first time you vote, you do need to register with your
email address, name, and zip code (to discourage people
from voting multiple times).
The Health Project helps our community by providing services
to our neighbors who are either HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis C positive.
Their lives become more stable, enabling them to find jobs
and housing, and to maintain their families. Besides the direct
benefits to these clients, there is a significant indirect
benefit to the community. The clients are helped to live
independent lives, and therefore need to be less dependent
on public funds for housing, foster child care, and other services. In
these difficult economic times, programs like the Health Project
become even more important. The website is http://healthproject.org/ if
you want more information.
